Privacy policy

Altitude Software Corporation ("Altitude", "we", "us") builds Altitude, a workspace where teams and Sherpa, our AI agent, research, analyze and produce work together. This policy explains how we collect, use and share personal information when you visit altitude.so, request a demo, communicate with us or use our services.

It does not cover the data our customers put into Altitude. We process that on our customers’ behalf and under their instructions; see Customer data.

Altitude is built for businesses. Our site and services are not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Information you give us. When you request a demo we ask for:

• Your first and last name, work email address and company.
• Your team and the size of your team.
• Anything you choose to tell us in the note field.

We also collect what you send us when you email us, talk to us or take part in a call, and, if you become a customer, the account details you or your administrator provide (such as name, work email, role and login information).

Information collected automatically. When you visit our site we and our partners collect your IP address and approximate location derived from it, browser and device type, the pages you view, the page that referred you, the links you click, and the date and time of your visit. We collect this with cookies, pixels and similar technologies; see Cookies and similar technologies.

Information from other sources. We add business information about you and your company from data and enrichment providers and from public sources, such as your job title, seniority, professional profile, company size and industry. Advertising partners may tell us that you engaged with one of our ads.

We use personal information to:

• Respond to your demo request and questions, and follow up about Altitude.
• Send you product updates, event invitations and other marketing, which you can opt out of at any time.
• Provide, secure, support and improve our site and services.
• Understand how our site is used and measure the performance of our marketing and advertising.
• Show you ads for Altitude on other sites and platforms.
• Prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our terms and comply with our legal obligations.

Files, chats, prompts, outputs and other content that customers and their users put into Altitude ("Customer Data") belong to the customer. We process Customer Data only to provide the services, as described in our agreement with the customer and its data processing terms.

We do not use Customer Data to train AI models, and we do not permit the model providers we use to do so. Documents are indexed per organization, so one customer’s search never reaches another’s data.

If your organization uses Altitude and you have a question about your data, or want to exercise a privacy right over it, please contact your organization’s administrator. We will help them respond.

We share personal information with:

• Service providers that host our site and services, run our CRM and email, provide data enrichment, analytics and support tools, and act on our behalf under contract.
• AI model providers that process Customer Data to deliver the services, under terms that forbid them from retaining it for their own purposes or training on it.
• Advertising partners such as LinkedIn and Google, which receive information about your visits through their tags so we can measure and target our ads. When you request a demo after clicking one of our ads, we also send that partner the ad click identifier and your email address in hashed form, with your name and company, so it can match the request to the ad; it does not receive what you wrote in the form. • Authorities and others when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of Altitude, our customers or others.
• A buyer or successor if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets.
• Anyone else with your consent or at your direction.

We do not sell personal information for money. A list of the subprocessors that handle Customer Data is available to customers on request.

Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser; pixels and tags are snippets that report a visit to the company that runs them. We use:

• Strictly necessary cookies, which keep the site working and secure. These cannot be turned off.
• Analytics cookies, from providers such as PostHog and Google Analytics, which tell us how visitors use the site.
• Advertising cookies and pixels, from partners such as LinkedIn and Google, which measure our ads and show them to people who have visited our site.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of analytics and advertising cookies as described in Your privacy choices. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a request to opt out: while it is on, our analytics counts your visits without a cookie, and nothing about your visits or a demo request is shared with advertising partners. Because there is no common standard for the older Do Not Track signal, we do not respond to it; Global Privacy Control is the signal we honor.

Marketing emails. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. You will still get messages about an account or request you have with us.

Opting out of sharing for targeted advertising. To opt out of our sharing your information with advertising partners, and of our use of analytics and advertising cookies, turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser or email us at privacy@altitude.so with the subject "Do not sell or share". A GPC signal applies to the browser that sends it.

Your browser and device. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking them may stop parts of the site from working.

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes above. Demo and marketing records are kept while we have an active business relationship or interest, and deleted or de-identified when they are no longer needed or when you ask us to delete them. Customer Data is kept for the term of the customer’s agreement and deleted afterwards as that agreement describes. We may keep some information longer where the law requires it or to resolve disputes.

We protect personal information with administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest and access controls, and we maintain a SOC 2 Type II report. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information you send us. See our security page for more.

Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws, you may have the right to:

• Know what personal information we have collected about you, and get a copy of it.
• Correct inaccurate personal information.
• Delete personal information we collected from you.
• Opt out of the sale of your personal information, its sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, and targeted advertising.
• Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

To exercise a right, email privacy@altitude.so. We will verify your request by matching the information you give us to what we hold, and respond within the time the law allows. You may use an authorized agent, who must show us your signed permission. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision; if we deny the appeal, you may contact your state attorney general.

California notice at collection

In the past 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information, from the sources and for the purposes described above:

• Identifiers, such as name, email address, IP address and online identifiers.
• Professional or employment information, such as company, job title, team and team size.
• Internet or network activity, such as pages viewed, links clicked and interactions with our ads.
• Approximate geolocation derived from IP address.
• Inferences about your interest in Altitude, drawn from the above.

We disclose each category to service providers for business purposes. We share identifiers, internet activity and approximate geolocation with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising, which California law treats as "sharing". We do not sell personal information for money, we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. Retention for each category is described in Data retention.

Altitude is based in the United States, and we and our service providers store and process information in the United States. If you contact us from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the date at the top when we do, and if a change is material we will tell you by email or with a notice on our site before it takes effect.
